Configure your Bigbelly units with additional technologies

A platform deployed in the public right-of-way that delivers more than smart waste & recycling. In addition to modernizing a core city service, it is optimal for hosting additional technologies.
It is easy to access & can hide technology in plain sight.

Wi-Fi hotspot

The smart station doubles as a sealed location to conceal a Wi-Fi hotspot in the public right-of-way. No plugs or grid power are required for instant Internet access with up to 20 metres signal radius.

IoT Sensors

  • Now every building can be retrofitted to be smart with Internet of Things (IoT) Smart Sensors that help you prevent critical system breakdowns, reduce onsite engineering staff and optimise building system performance Sensors.

  • Smart cities around the world are implementing initiatives to promote greener and safer urban environments, with cleaner air and water, better mobility and efficient public services. These initiatives are supported by technologies like the Internet of Things (IoT) and big data analytics, that form the base of the smart city model.

  • Smart cities leverage technology solutions to improve city services and the living experience of residents. Municipalities use IoT sensors, networks, and applications to gather relevant data, such as traffic congestion, energy usage, and air quality.

This data can then be used by technological solutions to improve city services, including utilities, transportation, and public services.

Includes lock down facilities and other security applications for events and high profile international dignitary visits.

Remote Hopper Locking

Stations can be locked remotely via the CLEAN app during high-security events. A signal can be sent requesting that the Hopper Lock installed on the station is engage remotely, rendering the station unusable.

Stations are checked manually for safety, and once confirmed and remotely locked, they cannot be used by the Public during the time of the Security Event.

Any tampering with the station during this event (forcing of the hopper or the door, or movement of the unit) will trigger a series of Alerts to nominated people in the Municipality or Security Services.

Station Operation in Security Mode

The LED indicator will reflect the current Station Breach state

  • Solid Green + Flashing Red/Yellow – A station door has not been opened since entering Secure mode.
